Are you recovering from the holidays and looking for a new project to dive into? In 2010, MNA is celebrating its 20th anniversary and we’re honoring the important work and impact of Michigan’s nonprofit community. What better way to start the new year then to work on the design and fabrication of an art piece to highlight the ways in which nonprofit organizations serve and transform our communities. Nonprofits have had a tremendous impact on our state over the past 20 years and we want to honor that impact while looking forward to the next 20 years and our collective potential. As part of the celebration, MNA will feature commitments from nonprofit and community leaders regarding nonprofits and their important role in Michigan’s community and economy.

We are looking for an artist who can design and fabricate an artwork that embodies a sense of collaboration, connection and community transformation. It must be reflective of Michigan and must represent our organization’s mission to serve, strengthen and transform communities in Michigan. Other considerations include the diversity of the sector (scope of the sector, demographics, and geography), the economic and political impact of the nonprofit sector, and service to our communities. The piece will be unveiled at the Michigan Nonprofit SuperConference on May 18-19, 2010 in Lansing. We are open to all ideas but it will need to be displayed indoors.
More information and the Call for Artists is available on our website at www.MNAonline.org/20th.asp. The deadline for submissions is February 5, 2010. What are you waiting for? (oh, and can you pass this onto your artistic friends too?)
